From series “Incredible Labs for Space and Physics Research”
Amundsen-Scott Station is located near the South Pole. Many incredible stories are associated with it. This scientific complex was formed by scientists and researchers in the United States. It is often referred to as "camping for aliens". Many incredible conjectures are connected with it. But not everyone knows what scientific purposes this large-scale complex was created for. This station is one of the most modern and secret in the world. It is located in an incredibly difficult area.
The station was built on top of a huge ice dome. It is located at an altitude of about 2850 meters above sea level. The average annual temperature is -49°C at this point on the planet. About 150 employees permanently live at the station during the summer. Their number is reduced to 50 in winter. Neutrino "telescopes" used in the scientific station are one of its main features. These sophisticated scientific instruments serve a wide range of purposes. They allow estimating the gravity of large stars, get data about the internal structure of the sun and search for neutrino particles.
