Tourists visiting the Grenadines archipelago can look past the picturesque private island of Mustique. The length of the wonderfully beautiful island forms about 5 km, and the width - 2.5 km. Surrounded by lush tropical forests, the area is about 5.7 sq km. And is of volcanic origin. One of the main features of the island is its unique warm climate.
Thanks to its unique location, there are never any strong hurricanes on the island's surface. These favorable conditions have contributed to the planting of the extensive orchards. At the moment, there are only three tiny villages on the isle criterion. Around 800 people live on Mustique. In 1958 the island was bought by the rich Scottish Baron Colin Tennant. He has ensured that the unique ecological system of the tropical island has been preserved. On the order of the Baron it was permitted to erect not more than 114 houses on the island. It is forbidden to pave the streets and build houses higher than tree tops.
