Medog is the most isolated and depopulated region of China. There live just about 10 000 people. Until 2010 there wasn’t even a road that will help locals to get to the nearby towns. This region lies on the territory of 31 300 square kilometers. Today its major value is the historic cultural heritage. Medog is a town where has placed a lot of religious holy places. There were saved several small villages which live as their ancestors thousands of years ago.
This region is also rich in its nature beauties. In the mountains you can find a lot of rare animals, plants and birds. When the road to the town was built, a number of tourists in this area has increased. Specialists claim that this can damage the present and future nature and historic cultural heritage.
