Bonnefanten Museum, Netherlands The museum owes its current name to the historic Bonnefanten Monastery. It was located there between 1931 and 1978. A new beautiful postmodern building was built for the museum in 1995. The famous architect Aldo Rossi became the author of its project. The spectacular tower became the main feature of the building. It looks a bit like a rocket in its shape. Its height is 28 meters. The historical and archaeological exhibits were moved from the Bonnefanten Museum to other cultural centers in 1999. Exclusively artistic works are kept in the museum today.

Visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to see unique sculptures and paintings. Some works of art were created in the 13th century. The world's most extensive collection of works by medieval sculptor Jan van Steffeswert is kept in the museum. All the artistic masterpieces were created at the turn of the 15th-16th centuries. The collection of wooden sculptures is of particular interest. Priceless enamel and ivory jewelry are also kept in the museum.

The spectacular museum building has become a popular landmark for the residents of Maastricht and its guests. The museum is located in a very picturesque area, on the banks of the Meuse River. A small park area is located in front of it. The museum building is located on the same site today, where the building of the Bonnefantin Monastery was located in the 18th century. This monastery was known for taking care of orphaned children. The monastery has fallen into disrepair over the years. Its building was destroyed. A beautiful monument of modern architecture is located in its place today. Next - Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
