Grand Prismatic Spring, USA The incredible shape of the Great Prism Source is due to the activity of the pigmented bacteria, which mainly live on their edges. At the center of the spring the water is usually bright blue because of the high mineral concentration. On the banks, the water can be of different colors - from green to ocher.

The color of water on the banks of the spring varies according to the season. In the summer, the coast of the prism source is usually orange-red.
