In Russia, one of the most colorful and spectacular is Kungur Ice Cave. It has a very complex structure. The total length of its branches is about 5.7 km. The difference in altitude between the lower and upper levels of the cave is about 32 meters, and the area of all halls and passages is more than 65000 square meters. The carst cave is characterized by the abundance of large galleries. It has been found more than 70 underground lakes, the largest of which is Big Lake. The area of its mirror is about 1460 square meters.
In addition to the fabulously beautiful lakes, the most important feature of Kungur Cave are centuries-old glaciation, which makes it a unique geological monument. Throughout the year, in some parts of the cave, a constant temperature is maintained, which makes it possible to maintain ice formations unchanged for hundreds of years. The total length of galleries accessible for visiting today is about 1500 meters, this route within an excursion tourists pass on average for an hour and a half.
