There’s quite a unique park in London. It’s called The Muse. It has got the world fame not because of the variety of exotic plants and an impressive scale, and because of its unusual location. The park is set on a roof of the house with the same name. It is situated on one of the central streets of London. It is important to note that the house with greenery on its roof is passive. The residence was constructed by Bere Architects company. Its experts managed to equip a roof with a wonderful green area.

More than forty trees, dozens of bushes and flowerbeds are planted at the terraces. There is also a small artificial pond. The main building material was not traditional concrete, but granulated blast-furnace slag. That’s a cheap building material, which is a common waste of steel mills. Despite the low cost, blast-furnace slag features waterproofing properties; it's also an excellent thermal insulator.

Thus, Bere Architects was able to prove that even in large metropolitan areas, you can build a unique passive house that will be attractive not only for comfortable living conditions and low cost, but for making the city green. In addition to live plants, the roof of The Muse can boast with solar panels, which almost completely cover residence’s needs for electricity. In the midth of exotic plants, benches and equipped picnic areas are set.
