Alamogordo Test Site, USA

Alamogordo Test Site is situated on the territory of New Mexico, the USA. The name it received thanks to the nearby so-called city. This test site is famous because right here was exploded the first nuclear bomb in the human history. The operation was called “Trinity”. The government of the USA had eight possible places for test site location. In the end, there was chosen a desert area in New Mexico.
One of the main conditions was an absence of Indian in the nearby regions. The test site was ready to work in 1945 and had quite a small area – 145 square meters. In 1945 on the Alamogordo Test Site was experienced the plutonium bomb. For the nuclear weapon of the 20th century, it was an important step forward. Today the place of the explosion is a popular touristic place.
