Waverly Hills Sanatorium, USA

One of the most mysterious objects in the United States is Waverly Hills Sanatorium situated in Louisville. At the turn of the 18th-19th centuries, locals suffered from a terrible and incurable disease of that time, tuberculosis. It took lives of hundred thousands of people; many towns and villages were emptied during epidemic. The large-scale sanatorium complex was designed specifically for rehabilitation of patients; its opening took place in 1926.

Good intentions of the founder quickly turned into a tragedy, as terminally ill people were subjects of awful experiments within the hospital. To remove bodies of people the staff used a secret passage, a long tunnel padded through the steep slopes of the hill. It’s believed that today this tunnel holds the highest paranormal activity. Ghosts are often seen in a long narrow corridor, and some restless souls continue to live in the hospital wards. In one of the chambers lives a spirit of a nurse, who contracted tuberculosis and committed suicide, as she didn’t want to fall into the hands of doctors.

In 1961, the tragic history of the hospital received a new round; it was converted into a nursing home. Conditions were terrible and the results of inspections that were published in the 70s shocked the whole world. Since 1982, the resort is in ruins attracting numerous research groups only. Spontaneously moving objects, unexplained sounds and smells - these are just some of the supernatural phenomena that can be observed in the walls of Waverly Hills Sanatorium.
