Perhaps, one of the most famous and visited in the world miniature parks is Madurodam. This park is located in The Hague. It offers visitors in a matter of hours to get acquainted with outstanding sights of Holland. The models that can be seen in the park are an exact copy of real monuments and structures in the proportion of 1:25. Some of the designs presented in the park are incredibly complex, work on them lasted about four years.

Of particular interest are bushes and trees planted in the park, whose height is maintained by efforts of gardeners at a level of no more than 60 cm. The history of the park is incredibly interesting. The author of this project is a famous architect Side Yan Baum. The opening of the miniature park took place in 1952. Not everyone knows that it is a real monument to the victims of the war.

Madurodam received its name in honour of the famous student from Curacao George Maduro, who sacrificed his life in fight against the Nazi occupying forces. The initiators of the construction of the park were parents of the deceased student. For many years after the opening, all the proceeds of Madurodam were transferred to charitable purposes. The park of miniatures actively cooperates with various youth and charitable organizations nowadays. For tourists, Madurodam is a great opportunity to see the iconic sights of Holland in one place.
