Barberstown Castle, Ireland The historic castle never ceases to amaze with its secrets for many years. A secret underground tunnel was discovered on its territory during another study in 1996. It connects the fortress to the historic church in the village of Straffan. Nicholas Barbie is the founder of the castle. The historic building was completed in 1288. William Sutton was the owner of the fortress in the early 17th century. He was a descendant of one of the most powerful aristocratic families in the country.

The castle has changed more than a dozen owners over the years. Nora Devlin bought it out in 1971. It was she who decided to convert the historic building into a hotel. The unique historical hotel offers romantic rooms today. They are decorated taking into account the traditions of the past years. Antique furniture and accessories adorn all rooms and public areas. The hotel has a rich collection of old works of art. The Barberstown restaurant is the pride of the castle hotel. It specializes in French cuisine.
