Adare Castle, Ireland
From series “Ireland's Greatest Castles”Year: 12 century.
Adare Castle is located in County Limerick in the historic village of the same name. According to available historical data, this castle was founded by members of the O'Donovan Clan in the late 12th century. Its founders were the rulers of the region during that period. The historic castle has been in disrepair in recent years. Restoration work has been carried out in it since 1996. The castle is available for visiting as part of organized excursions in the summer.
The extensive surrounding area of the castle has also been transformed in recent years. A gorgeous landscaped garden was planted here. The thick green grass covers the banks of the river in the spring. Ivy covers part of the facade of the castle in the warm season. This makes its appearance even more unique. The village of Adare itself is also of great interest from a historical point of view. Beautiful houses of residents have been preserved on its territory. Their age is several hundred years. Some of the houses with thatched roofs and yellow-painted facades resemble fairy-tale huts. The locals have a good tradition. They decorate the facades of their houses and the surrounding area with pots of fresh flowers in the warm season. Next - Slane Castle
