Schloss Lichtenstein, Germany The guests of this unique sight first have to climb up the steep stone steps into the mountains, and then go on the Hängebrücke, which was laid out over the ravine. The first defense system was erected on the site of the castle in the beginning of the 13th century. In the course of a long history the castle was twice completely destroyed and rebuilt. At the beginning of the 19th century, the castle belonged to King Frederic I, who used it as a hunting hut.
