Dworshak Dam is in a top 3 highest dams in the USA. Its height is 219 meters. This concrete gravity dam is a unique engendering construction. It has been building for 7 years and was finished in 1973. It does not only generate power but also saves the region from the floods. The first dam project was made even in 1953. For several years, specialists have been choosing the right place for dam building and place for the reservoir.
The main difficulty of finding the place was the rivers full of fish. The place has to be chosen in order not to bother fish migration. In the sick woods on the river, shores have placed large populations of elks. They were also on the edge of extinction because of the floods. Within several decades, the right place for the dam was chosen. In 1965 were made some preparation works and in 1966 the building began.
