Euro Tunnel, United Kingdom - France Eurotunnel can boldly be called a historic sight. The first construction plan was developed in 1802. The heavy political interactions between the states had suspended the project for nearly 200 years so the construction began in 1988 only. The tunnel has a length of about 51000 metres but a travel time is just 20 or 35 minutes.

Double track railway is a unique feature of the tunnel. Trains shuttle in both directions. Moreover, the whole complex provides one more tunnel, for stuff only. It provides a full access for personnel to any part of the tunnel. An efficient ventilation system and a high-technology security system make the tunnel under the English Channel one of the most upscale and best structures of the kind. Next - Lotschberg
