Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad also attracts people with its unusual architecture. Recently this museum has received a new campus – a wonderful round glassed house. As many other round buildings, this one also has a symbolic meaning. It symbolizes the Earth and pays people’s attention to the water value.

The outstanding museum is one of the most visiting cultural places of Kaliningrad. And it doesn’t connect only with its unusual architectural form. There has placed a large collection of items that anyhow is connected with the water. The museum was opened recently, in 1994. Today its collections have thousands of unique items. The main campus has portraits and things of world-famous sailors and models of legendary ships. The largest part of the collections are the ancient maps, ship equipment, historical documents.

The museum has a lot of huge aquariums with different sea animals. That’s why it is quite popular among travellers with children. Some objects are presented outside the building and in the harbour. There you can visit legendary scientific-research ships. One of the most interesting ships is “Vityaz”. It has practically saved the human climate of the historical times. In the new round building has placed an interesting exposition that is dedicated to the sea animals. One of the main items is a huge skeleton of the gray seal that impresses with its sizes.
