Absolut Icebar, Sweden

In Sweden, on the territory of resort Jukkasjärvi, the most known Icehotel is located. The "Absolut Icebar" is a part of this complex. The whole building is made of the ice blocks. They are taken from the nearby rivers. The usual temperature in the building is 4 degrees below zero. At this temperature the ice blocks don't melt. The bar counter, chairs and even glasses for cocktails are made from ice. The illumination makes this bar as outstanding as it possible.

Every year the bar and the hotel has been rebuilt. According to this, year by year they look more fascinating. The main decoration of the bar are the ice sculptures. The bar has special jackets made from the light-reflecting fabric. In these jackets the visitors feel comfortable in the frozen bar.

The first ice hotel was opened in 1990 in Jukkasjärvi. At that time, it was a small cold cabin. Within the years the hotel became larger and more furnished. Several years ago, on this territory the ice bar was opened. Nowadays the travelers can not only stay at the hotel or spend time in the bar but also, they can walk in the art gallery where the most outstanding sculptures are placed.
