However, it was possible to start construction much later. The Zholkovskaya Synagogue was consecrated in 1698. It was significantly expanded in the 18th century. The synagogue acquired its current interior in 1908. Its large-scale reconstruction took place at the beginning of the 20th century. The gorgeous painting was applied to its walls during the reconstruction. The synagogue building was partially destroyed during World War II. The historical building was used as a warehouse in the post-war period until the 90s of the last century. The unique Renaissance building has only recently regained its former status. It managed to maintain its unique appearance and part of the unique interior design despite a long and difficult history.

You can also see powerful supporting columns and polychrome paintings preserved on the walls, as well as a beautiful Baroque altar in the hall. A very beautiful two-story gallery is located in the western part of the synagogue. Restoration of the religious monument is still ongoing. Zholkovskaya Synagogue is located in the heart of the picturesque historic district. Many other outstanding attractions and cultural sites are located near it. Next - Templo Libertad Synagogue
