A beautiful synagogue is located in Casablanca. It is known to locals and tourists as the temple of Beth-El. Its main feature is the chic interior decoration. Elaborate stained glass windows adorn the building. You can see the beautiful hand-crafted furniture and other unique design elements everywhere inside. The synagogue building is built in the best traditions of Art Deco. Narrow high windows, carved rosettes, and elegant black domes decorated with gilding adorn it.
This synagogue is the oldest in the country. It is considered the central synagogue even though more than 30 synagogues operate in Casablanca today. It was built in the heart of the old Jewish community. Massive carved wooden doors adorn the entrance to the synagogue today as they did many years ago. The temple of Beth-El serves as not only a religious but also a cultural center, like many other major synagogues. Children's Sunday school operates in it. Children from 4 to 6 years old can attend it. The spacious prayer hall is also often used for various social events.
