Ohel Jakob Synagogue, Germany The so-called "Corridor of Memory" connects the Ohel Jacob synagogue with the cultural center. It is a kind of historical monument. It is dedicated to members of the local Jewish community who died during World War II. More than 4,500 people were killed by the Nazis in wartime only by approximate estimates. A new synagogue was built in Munich in 2005. It is located in an unusual building with a regular cubic shape. The upper part of the building is completely made of glass. The height of the building is 28 meters. This unusual structure of the building has its symbolic meaning. Its lower part is made of stone. It symbolizes the Wailing Wall. The upper part is made of glass. It is reminiscent of traditional "Ohel" tents. The Jews used them during their wanderings in the desert.

The interior design of the synagogue is very restrained and elegant. There is modern light wood furniture inside. Natural light enters through the glass roof during the daytime. The very first synagogue was built on the site of the modern one in the 19th century. It was destroyed in 1938. It was not fully completed until 2005, despite earlier attempts to restore the religious monument. Next - Great Synagogue in Sydney
