From series “Famous Spots of Gold Mines Reminding the Gold-Rush Times”
Many goldfury stories are associated with the deposits located in Alaska. It is here, that one of the unique gold mines of the planet is located. For more than 100 years people have been mining gold on the banks of the Nome River. The very first golden nugget on the beach of Nome was discovered in 1898 by local residents. Two men walked along the river bank, when one of them noticed an unusual shining stone under his feet. This stone was the first gold nugget found on the bank of the river.
For travellers, the main attractive feature of the Nome Beach is that there are no restrictions for gold mining in this area. Everyone can visit these picturesque places and, armed with a special sieve, try their luck and try to find gold nuggets. The Gold Rush, associated with the history of the discovery of the deposit on the beach of Nome, is considered the most ambitious after the Klondike. The desire of people to enrich themselves and travellers arriving to the area is a perfect confirmation of the fact that it continues to this day. Next - Las Medulas Mine
