The train crosses the bridge over Toltec gorge and more than 3 kilometres continues on Cumbres mountain pass.

Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, USA There is no other railway in the United States that rises so high in the mountains, so untrained tourists are assured kind of dizzy and a lot of emotions.As many railway connection projects in Colorado, the establishment of Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is related to the development of new industrial areas in the San Juan Mountains.

Already in the middle of the 20th century, mineral deposits had been fully depleted. The railroad was neglected for several years. But pretty soon it got a new facility. Oilfields have been discovered near Farmington. Eventually, the railroad was extended to be used not only for industrial purposes.
