In Nanjing, there is the Confucius Temple that is one of the oldest Confucian attractions in the world. The first building in its place was constructed in 1034 and, like many Confucian temples, it served as a school for local children. The wooden temple suffered from fires several times, but through the efforts of local residents each time it was completely rebuilt. Over the years, imperial examinations were held in it. There was a room with more than 20 thousands of individual booths, where examinees were closed for three days. They were visited only to bring a portion of food.

Confucius Temple in Nanjing, China In 1937, the temple was completely destroyed by Japanese invaders. It was managed to rebuild the temple only in 1984. The temple located in Nanjing is known as a place that houses the largest statue of Confucius in China. It is located in the Dacheng Hall. This room is decorated with 38 incredibly beautiful jade panels trimmed with gold and silver. Scenes from the life of the great thinker are depicted there.

The Confucius Temple in Nanjing is a popular destination not only for pilgrims who come here from all the provinces of China, but also for ordinary tourists who want to feel the spirit of the great Chinese philosophy. In the vicinity of the temple, there is a well-maintained tourist area with numerous restaurants, nice shops, souvenir stalls, and outdoor recreational areas. The temple is located at the shore of Qinhuai Canal. A walk along it also promises to give a lot of impressions.
