Sherlock Holmes Museum, UK
From series “Houses of Famous People and Stars Currently Open to Tourists”Year: 1990.
Not only the houses of real, but also of fictitious persons, can be very attractive for the tourists. A good example of this is the memorial room of Sherlock Holmes. The unique museum is located in London, at 221b, Baker Street. Right here, according to the works of Arthurs Conan Doyle, lived the outstanding detective and his friend, Dr. Watson from 1881 to 1904.
It must be noted that when Conan Doyle wrote his novels, there was no house № 221b on Baker Street. It is much later, when the road was extended, appeared. The legendary number has been built in the Victorian style. The museum was opened in 1990. On four floors of the old building is presented a rich exposition dedicated to the great detective and the work of Arthur Conan Doyle.
