A beautiful old house is located in Nizhny Novgorod on Semashko Street. The great Russian writer Maxim Gorky lived there in 1902-1904. He lived here for 2 years. The small apartment turned into a real center of the city's cultural life during this time. The museum is located in a beautiful wooden house. It was built in 1881. It is a historical monument of Federal significance today. Many famous literary figures of the early 20th century visited this apartment. Gorky's best friend Leonid Andreev, as well as the famous writer and publicist Evgeny Chirikov, are among them.
The entire second floor of the house belonged to Maxim Gorky's family. There were 10 rooms here. The guest room is of great interest today. Another friend of the writer lived here in 1903. This Is Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin. You can see the singer's authentic personal belongings in this room. His descendants gave them to the museum. A large collection of photographs is kept in the museum in addition to antique furniture and works of art. The writer is pictured with his family and friends on them.
