Dolmabahce Palace is situated in a very beautiful place, on the shore of Bosporus. In 1853 this palace was built for Abdülmecid I. The last was inspired by the Topkapi Palace and ordered to build his own residence in the baroque style. Originally, this palace had not only the wonderful façade decoration but also a great inner decoration. For interior decoration was spend about 14 tons of gold. The main staircase of the palace is made from the crystal glass.

Dolmabahce Palace, Turkey When the palace was finished, Queen Victoria presented a crystal chandelier made from bohemia glass. Until nowadays it is the main decoration of the residence. This palace has a unique collection of paintings that were made especially for the Sultan by a famous Russian painter Ivan Aivazovsky. At first, the palace was quite small but for the last 100 years it has become wider. Now it is 45 000 square meters.

Nowadays the wonderful Baroque palace is used as a museum. Visitors can see there a lot of marvellous elements of decoration and old pieces of art. Dolmabahce Palace is a very popular sightseeing in Istanbul. Tourists like to take a lot of pictures of it, not only from the ground but also from the water during a boat trip. Since 2007, this palace is an official residence of the Turkish prime minister. That’s why a great part of rooms is closed for tourists.
