The Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence is a bright example of the baroque style. It is the largest principal Franciscan church in the world. The Basilica attracts not only with its unique architectural style but also with the great inner decoration. The chapels are decorated with great old frescoes by Giotto. On the territory of the church, you can find the shrines of the notable Italian people. The church has been built for about a hundred years and was finished in 1385.
Legend says that Santa Croce was founded by the main Catholic saint Franciscus Assisiensis. The church was decorated by the best Italian artists and sculptors. Many of their masterpieces we can see within thousands of years. Today the main decoration of the Basilica is the delicate stained-glass windows, the main altar that is decorated with the 14th century Agnolo Gaddi frescoes.
