Cave Apollo 11 is the unique cave in Namibia. There were also found the settlements of the primitive men. This cave’s name is connected with the landmark event landing on the moon of the satellite vehicle Apollo 11 in 1969. On the walls were found the ancient paintings made with coal and natural white dye and ochre. There you can recognize zebras, cats, giraffes, ostriches and other animals. The researchers say that these paintings are approximately 26 000 years old.

Cave Apollo 11, Namibia Specifically, these cave drawings are the most ancient in Africa. The major founds are still the seven painted boards. They were found while the extensive investigation of the archaeological subsoil. That age goes from 25 to 27 thousand years. The scientists reckon that these boards were made many thousand years earlier.

All the boards are decorated with an animal. Only five of seven were accurately identified. One board depicts a mythical being therianthrope. It is a unique creature that has some parts of the human and some from the animal. It is a great mystery how, when and why our predecessors could meet these creatures.
