Caminito Del Rey, Spain
From series “Best Extreme Places on Earth for Thrill Lovers”Year: 1905. Lenght: 3,000 meters. Height: 100 meters.
The El Chorro canyon, known for its fabulous waterfalls, flowing rivers and futuristic landscapes, is considered to be one of the best places for extreme sea fishing in Spain. One of the most breathtaking sights of the ravine is the so-called Royal Path - a concrete bridge, which has no railing and no supports. This dangerous route was built in the early 20th century for the workers who built the dam.
The path had to be built literally by local means: the railway rails, which had served as the main support component of the path for more than a century, had been driven into the rock wall. The path was opened in 1905. The King Alfonso XIII. Was one of the first people who crossed the bridge. In honor of this striking event, the bridge was named.
