Car Rental in San Francisco

Convertible rental in San Francisco

The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in USA are: Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Ford Mustang Convertible and VW Eos Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in San Francisco require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in USA is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in San Francisco and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in San Francisco, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around USA!

Driving Advices for USA – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities

One more important factor – exceeding the maximum permitted speed on toll roads is prohibited, even if there are no police. The time of entering and leaving a toll road is clearly recorded. This means that officers will have no difficulty in calculating the average speed of any vehicle.
Parts of roads that are adjacent to major cities are considered the most difficult ones. They are distinguished by a large number of furcations and numerous shields installed along the roads. Inexperienced drivers should move slowly on such road sections as there’s a risk of missing the right exit. Otherwise, you can lose a lot of time searching for a suitable place to turn back. Returning to a missed exit will be not easy.
All the federal roads are equipped with special service areas, which are usually located on both sides of a highway. Cars are allowed to enter these service areas only if they don’t cross the route of cars moving in the opposite direction. Each direction has its own service area. Sometimes the areas can be located between the opposite lanes – this happens when service areas are shared.

The majority of the flights handled by the airport are the flights to other regions of the country, and only a third of them are international ones. This air terminal was one of the first airports in the United States to be equipped with fully automated baggage handling system. The airfield was founded in 1927. Its original name was Mills Field Airport, but in 1931, it was changed to San Francisco Municipal Airport. The airport started operating large-scale domestic passenger flights after World War II. SFO comprises 4 terminals.

The Red Line of AirTrain, SFO’s fully automated people mover system, connects the passenger terminals of the airport, short-term daily parking garages and the BART Station. The Blue Line of this people-mover system connects the terminals, the car park of the Rental Car Center, the parking garages and the BART Station. Trains depart from the BART Station to northern San Francisco, to the city center and to Pleasanton. Taxis wait for passengers on the arrivals/baggage claim level. Besides, passengers may take advantage of the shuttle minibus services. Public buses run from the airport to San Francisco, San Mateo and other localities. Enjoying sights of San Francisco in cabriolet
Among the fortifications of San Francisco, two more are worth highlighting – Fort Point and Fort Mason. The former was built in 1853 as an additional fort, which is designed to protect the Bay of San Francisco from the encroachments of those who decide to come to get a “gold mine”. The fortress was of great importance during the Civil War in the United States. Already by 1861, the first cannon was installed here. After the end of the war, barracks could be found here. This is another building that becomes the camera focus – for example, in the movie “Vertigo” in 1958 or in the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” in 2014. As for the Fort Mason, it was also built as a defensive structure during the “gold rush” and was useful during the Civil War.

A walk along the beautiful streets of San Francisco will bring only the most beautiful experiences. The Haight-Ashbury district is known for being a gathering place for hippies – this is all thanks to its nearness to the picturesque Golden Gate Park, from which began the “Summer of Love” of 1967. The magnificent colorful and original buildings are reminiscent of this – houses, art cafes, and cultural centers. While walking here, the words from Scott MacKenzie’s famous song about San Francisco immediately comes to mind, that you must put flowers on your head when you visit the city, and also that you can meet good people here. It was thanks to this quarter and the words from the song that the whole city began to be associated with the subculture and became synonymous with freedom and self-expression.
