If your routes in USA are foreseen to pass through hilly areas or mountains, it is not recommended to consider very small cars for rental. Their engines are usually insufficient for a confident driving on the roads with long or steep climbs.

Driving Advices for USA – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Signs with numbers, which are installed on federal highways, also have additional letter signs: «N», «S», «W» and «E». They mean that on this road traffic goes to the north, south, west, and east respectively.
In addition to highways and freeways there are so-called toll roads. It is very simple to distinguish them on a map – unlike the rest of roads, they are marked with green. Payments for the use of toll roads are made in special locations close to toll roads.
Entering toll roads is recorded – there are special control turnstiles particularly for this purpose. When passing a gate through, you must take a special ticket, which marks the place and the time of your arrival. After that, a turnstile will open and you can continue driving.

If you cross the road next to Terminal A, you will be able to get to a two-level parking lot at once. Besides, the airport comprises a seven-level parking lot, opposite Terminals A and B. Three types of parking are available. These are the Green Parking Lot (economy parking), the Long Term Parking Lot (in the Parking Garage, behind the multi-level public parking lot and the car rental parking area), and the Red Lot (needed when other parking lots and garages are overcrowded). The long-term parking lot includes spaces for parking and recharging electric vehicles. The long-term parking garage can be reached by the walkway from the South Terminal. The first 15 minutes of parking in a short-term parking lot are free of charge.

Such hotels as the Hilton Garden Inn, the La Quinta Inn and others, nestled not far from the airport, provide a free shuttle service to the terminals for their guests. Read all...
Sightseeing of San Antonio, USA
The Alamo Mission Fortress is the main historical symbol of the city and the most important landmark of Texas. The history of this outstanding structure is very unusual. It is the former Mission San Antonio de Valero . The construction of the Catholic mission started in 1744, shortly after the foundation of the new city by Spanish settlers. A noteworthy fact - the mission was not completed. At the end of the 18th century, it became fully desolated. In the early 19th century, the building was converted into the barracks for the Mexican soldiers. The fortress was used as barracks until 1835. It is believed that it were Mexican soldiers who gave the building a new name. For a long time, the building served various military purposes, but it was seriously damaged during hostilities. The rebuilding works started in 1912. Today, the partially restored mission is the main symbol of Texas independence.

The picturesque promenade of San Antonio River Walk is another prominent attraction of the city. It stretches along the San Antonio River and remains the most popular tourist district. The coastline is almost completely given to pedestrians. Many popular hotels, restaurants, trendy boutiques, and nightclubs are open in this part of the city. As a rule, travelers enjoy making a stroll on the promenade in the evening, when original artistic lighting illuminates the waterfront. It is also worth noting that there are several important cultural centers close to the coastline, including the La Villita Historic Arts Village and the Arneson River Theater . The construction of the waterfront began in 1939. Nowadays, its length is almost 5 kilometers.
