Reno-Tahoe International Airport is located 6 kilometres away from the city of Reno, Nevada, USA. The airport is used both by the Air Force and by civil aviation. It was built in 1929. In 1994, it was renamed and got its present name. It’s the second busiest airline hub in Nevada in terms of commercial flights.

The airport serves over 4 million people annually. There are three runways of different length including a runway for heavy aircrafts. The airport terminal was named after Howard Cannon, the U.S. Air Force officer and senator. The terminal has two concourses — B and C. The U.S. National Guard base is located on the territory of the airport.

The city can be reached by bus (routes 12 and 19). Both routes head for the city centre. Route 19 doesn’t work on holidays. You can take a taxi or a limousine at a special stop near Exit D from the baggage reclaim hall in the north wing of the terminal. Free transfers offered by the nearby hotels are done from the same stop. The airport is situated near the crossroads of two highways — I-80 and Interstate 580.

Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car

Nine car rental companies operate at the Reno-Tahoe Airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise rent a car, Hertz, National, Payless, Thrifty. All of the companies have customer service stands in the terminal. The offices are situated in the baggage carousel hall. Most car rental points of sale can be found opposite baggage carousels 1, 2, and 3, near the A and B exits from the terminal. A car can be taken on a parking lot next to the terminal near the exit from the baggage reclaim area. The car is returned to a parking lot on the territory of the airport.

The office of Thrifty is located outside the airport. Free transfer to the place of car rental is offered to customers. Passengers are transferred from the stop situated near Exit D from the terminal.

The companies offer unlimited mileage for the whole period of rental. The price includes car accident and car theft insurance. You can amend the agreement and cancel your reservation.

Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby

The Reno-Tahoe Airport parking lots include an open parking lot, a garage, and several parking lots used when the main parking lots are all packed. All the lots are located near the terminal. They are guarded and lit when it’s dark. Level 1 of the garage offers short-term parking. Level 2 has long-term parking lots. There are free parking spaces for motorcycles on Level 1 of the garage.

The hotels situated near RNO and in the city provide free shuttle transfer from and to the terminal. The parking is near Exit D from the terminal. The nearest hotels — Hyatt Palace and Best Western Airport Plaza — are situated within walking distance from the terminal.
