Frequently asked questions

What to visit around: Georgetown Loop Railroad near Johnstown
The Georgetown railroad, built in the second half of the 19th century, is located in the state of Colorado, in the territory of Clear Creek County. Its construction was preceded by the development of silver mines. The narrow-gauge railway has been remaining the only way for the miners to get over the Rocky Mountains for many years. When the development of the mines was complete, the rail line was neglected and gradually destroyed.

Later, the railroad was decided to reconstruct and use for tourism, since it is a good alternative to the most extreme world’s attractions. In 1973 the destroyed parts of the road were restored, and a year later a sightseeing train began to carry passengers. Movement on the narrow-gauge road through the mountainous area is quite an unusual pastime in itself. The most frightening and dangerous section of the track is a bridge named Devil’s Gate.
