Austin–Bergstrom International Airport, a general aviation airport, started functioning in 1999. The airfield is located on the old site of Bergstrom Air Force Base. It is situated within an 8-kilometre radius of Downtown Austin. The airport disposes of two runways and three helicopter pads. The air terminal is capable of handling about 14 million people a year. The Main Passenger Terminal bears the name of Barbara Jordan. Besides, there is a secondary small terminal known as the South Terminal. The two runways are named after historical figures, which are President Lyndon B. Johnson and Congressman J. J. "Jake" Pickle.

Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car

A consolidated rental car centre is connected to the Barbara Jordan Terminal and the parking garage via pedestrian walkways. This centre features leading car rental companies, which are Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, E-Z, Fox, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, and Thrifty. You can get to the centre from the top level of the terminal, from the drop-off and ticket sales area via the pedestrian walkway. The cars are hired at, collected from and returned to the consolidated car rental centre.

The rental conditions include meeting age requirements of 25 years or older (the rental cost per day is higher for the drivers aged between 21 and 24 years old) and the presence of a valid driver's license. If you want to introduce the second driver into the rental agreement, his or her personal presence will be required. The presence of an international driver's license does not entitle a person to drive a vehicle; one is required to produce a national driver's license as well.

Some firms recover a sum equal to the daily rental rate for cancellation of advance booking more than 24 hours before the time indicated in the order. Supplementary equipment is subject to availability and is provided by the firms at an additional cost. Not all the companies allow the clients to install their own accessories into the leased vehicle. Both credit and debit cards are accepted for payment. An airport public parking garage is connected to the Barbara Jordan Passenger Terminal. Short term parking is found on the top floor of the parking garage. You can take advantage of valet parking services on the top level of the parking garage. The South Terminal is equipped with its own short-term and long-term parking lots within walking distance of the terminal. Disabled veterans can use the parking lots in both the terminals free of charge.

Shuttles depart from the Main Passenger Terminal to the hotels nestled not far from the territory of the airport. Low-cost parking lots are placed in the territory of the hotels. The following hotels are set within a 2-3-kilometre radius of AUS: the Hilton, the Quality Inn and Suites, the Hampton Inn and Suites, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, and the Comfort Suites.
