Therefore, we encourage you to order full coverage of insurance franchise during your booking, or directly at the rental office in Chiang Mai.

Before leaving the parking garage in Chiang Mai, inspect the minivan for exteriour defects and other signs of damage together with the office representative and mark the found defects found in your rental documents.

Driving Advices for Thailand – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Intersections remain the most dangerous sections of roads for foreign drivers. Neither the traffic light signal nor the transport moving in the opposite direction can force Thai drivers to slow down when passing an intersection. Quite often cars and two-wheeled vehicles pass each other by with the distance of just a couple of centimeters. The traffic flow at intersections is always very heavy.
Even dividing lines do not confuse local drivers. They can easily overtake using the oncoming lane and make turns in any convenient location. As it has been noted above, passing red light is also a very common traffic violation in the country.
Foreign drivers should expect absolutely anything from local motorists, including sharp braking, driving on the diagonal, constant lane changing (the division between lanes is a pure formality here), and driving on the oncoming lane.

Travelling in minivan through Chiang Mai

The history of the city extends back over seven hundred years. Travelers who like to devote a lot of time to hikes and scenic walks would like Chiang Mai. There are many natural attractions, but Chiang Mai also has unique historical landmarks, as well as numerous cultural centers. There are more than three hundred monasteries and temples in the city and its surrounding area, and each one is unique.

Doi Suthep Temple is considered one of the most beautiful structures; it is one of the most important religious attractions of the country. A temple is situated on top of the mountain of the same name surrounded by beautiful forests. The first temple in its place has been founded in the 14th century. These days it has significantly expanded its territory and the temple has completely changed its appearance. The most important religious celebrations are held here; the beautiful temple is open for visitors every day.

No less interesting is the Wat Chedi Luang temple founded more than five hundred years ago. The main decoration of the temple is a replica statue of the Emerald Buddha made of black jade; the building of the temple is also of great interest from an architectural point of view.
