Driving Advices for Netherlands – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
A huge number of cyclists is a striking feature of local roads. This type of transport is very popular with local people. Of course, that fact also adds some peculiarities to local traffic and its organization.
There are special lanes for bicycles along main roads. These lanes are marked with special signs, and neither motorists nor pedestrians are allowed to use them. It is important to note that bicycle roads, as well as other roads, can have one-way and two-way traffic.
In some parts of local roads you may see unusual road signs that prohibit movement. Below them there is an additional panel with the word «uitgezondered» and images of a bike or a scooter. This means that all vehicles except bicycles and scooters are forbidden to move on that road.

Sightseeing of Amsterdam, Netherlands
Everything you have heard about the Red Light District is the truth: prostitutes in the red-light windows, vice houses, haze-filled bars and cafes, sex-shops and strip-shows. When strolling around the neighborhood - be careful and watch out for pocket lifters. Also be aware of that it’s forbidden to take photos and videos of the prostitutes in the windows – this will be taken as the sign of the disrespect, and you can say “good-bye” to your camera as well. Here you can legally purchase up to 5 grams of marijuana, space cakes, hashish, and truffles. This amount is legal, tolerated and will not be prosecuted by the authorities.
