Car Rental in Niigata

Convertible rental in Niigata

The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Japan are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet and Ford Mustang Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Niigata require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Japan is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Niigata and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Niigata, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Japan!

Driving Advices for Japan – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Foreign drivers should remember that the international driving license is invalid in Japan. In order to drive vehicles, drivers must exchange the international driving license to the local one. It is worth noting that the exchange procedure is simple and free of long formalities.
Traffic violations in Japan are due to a number of serious penalties. For example, there is a risk of losing the driving license even for a small violation that can be categorized as minor in many countries.
Passing a red light is considered one of the most serious violations. In most cases such a violation results in suspension of the driving license and a fine of approximately US$400. In some cases drivers can even be imprisoned for up to 6 months.

Enjoying sights of Niigata in cabriolet
The festival program lasting several days opens with a traditional dance parade, in which more than 20,000 people take part. All the parade participants wear beautiful national costumes, which makes the procession even more spectacular. The second day of the holiday also involves colorful processions. Among other things, the festival program includes gastronomic entertainment and children's activities. Interestingly, the Matsuri Festival is held in many Japanese cities but has some special features in Niigata.

During the parade, full-sized ship models made of wood are carried through the city streets. This feature indicates the importance of marine traditions for the city. The final entertainment of the festival is grandiose fireworks. The townspeople love pyrotechnic shows so much that they make them an indispensable part of literally all holidays. Within the framework of the Matsuri Festival, they always launch a huge 300 kg pyrotechnic shell called “Phoenix”. This is the largest shell allowed by local law - the diameter of the burst reaches about 2,000 meters. The beautiful festival is usually held in the early days of August. The tradition of its holding originated back in 1879.
