Car Rental in Chennai

Family car rental in Chennai

The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in India traditionally include the following vehicles: Toyota Camry, Saab 9-3, Nissan Maxima, Mercedes C Class, BMW 3 Series, Toyota Altis and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Chennai borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Chennai might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Chennai!

Previous hints
Vast majority of vehicles in India are powered by diesel fuel. It is hard to find even the 92 petrol at local petrol stations. As a rule, you can buy it in big cities only.
You will often see “speed bumps” in settlements, and the majority of them are marked with appropriate signs. Even if the road is relatively free, it is better not to speed up, because “speed bumps” can be located almost anywhere.
Do not be afraid that because of excessive slowness or hesitation local people will get angry and will want to punish a clumsy tourist. Excessive hesitation and caution will not surprise anyone, and the noise of horns is unlikely to become stronger because of a foreign tourist on the road.

Another important historical object is Fort St. George. It is the first fortification in India built by the British colonialists. Construction of the fort took place in the mid-17th century. Its last large-scale reconstruction took place in 1749; since then the majestic fort is kept in the same condition.
Not far from the fort there is St. Mary's Church that is the oldest church in India. It was built in the second half of the 17th century; over the years many ceremonies have been held there with the participation of high-rank officials. Those who are fond of excursions are recommended to visit the Government Museum, which is considered one of the most important and interesting in India. Its collection is simply amazing; museum visitors will have an opportunity to see unique geological, anthropological, numismatic and zoological exhibits and enjoy a luxurious collection of sculptures.

The National Art Gallery will continue an insight to cultural traditions of locals. In addition to fine paintings, its walls house an interesting collection of handicrafts and antique jewelry in bronze; their age is more than a thousand years. There are some amazingly beautiful temples in Chennai; the rest would be incomplete without seeing them.
