Car Rental in Lemnos

Family car rental in Lemnos

The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Greece traditionally include the following vehicles: Audi A4, Renault Scenic, Peugeot 508, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 6 and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Lemnos borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Lemnos might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Lemnos!

Driving Advices for Greece – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
If a fine is paid within 10 days of its issue, it is possible to get a “discount” of 50%. Despite such heavy fines, local drivers do not bother to follow traffic regulations. Because of this disciplined tourists often become participants of car accidents on local roads.
Traffic police is quite rare on local roads, especially in coastal areas and in the countryside. Police officers are usually on duty on busy roads close to big cities, but the local drivers who often break traffic regulations seem not to care about this fact.
In general, the local police are friendly and they treat drivers from other countries with understanding and respect. The driving license may be withdrawn only for a very serious violation, but it is not a reason to follow the behavior of local drivers and ignore rules that may seem minor and unimportant at first glance.

Traveling in Limnos Island with family car
There is a wide choice of Greek soups on Lemnos. You should definitely try fasolada, a traditional Greek soup made of beans and different vegetables. It is believed that fasolada was known in Ancient Greece. Vegetarians will definitely like chickpea revithia. The most popular fish soup is kakavia. A creamy avgolemono will be the best choice for those who want to try something exotic. Don’t pass by souvlaki, a popular Greek fast food, a local variant of kebab. It is grilled on a skewer and usually eaten straight off the skewer. This dish appeared before our era and the recipe hasn’t changed a lot. You can try souvlaki in souvladzikos. Souvlaki in a pita with vegetables, fries and sauce is called gyro.

However, there are different varieties of meat dishes on the island. Stewed meat stifado is a delicious dish. Dolma is grape leaves stuffed with meat, rice and vegetables. Moussaka is a layered dish with meat, eggplant and bechamel sauce. Loukaniko sausages and tefteli are also delicious Greek food. Kokoretsi is an unusual dish. It is a lamb delicacy. You should look for fish dishes in psarotaverns. Be sure to taste stewed octopus, dorado and monkfish. You can taste all the seafood of the Aegean sea on Lemnos: from mackerel to cuttlefish and squids. Fish and seafood are boiled, stewed and fried here. A unique Greek delicacy is a taramasalata, fish roe mixed with boiled potatoes. You should know that sometimes the menu shows the price per kilo and the portion can cost more or less. One more important thing is «*», «k» or «kat» indications in front of the name of the dish in a menu. These indications show that the dish was made of frozen imported fish. While ordering a dish, ask a waiter about the price. The price can be specified for a portion, 100 grams of a kilo.
