Car Rental in Athens

The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Greece are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet and Audi A3 Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Athens require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Greece is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Athens and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Athens, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Greece!

Driving Advices for Greece – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Crossroads equipped with traffic lights are another place, where drivers should be really careful. Do not start moving immediately after the green light appears. Local drivers have one really bad habit – they enjoy “slipping” at a crossroads when the traffic light has just switched to red.
Parking space should be selected with caution. Drivers should also take into account that parking is prohibited in the central part of some large cities.
The maximum allowed speed when driving in the territory of a city is 50 km/h. In the country the speed limit is 80 km/h, and on highways the maximum permitted speed is 130 km/h. It should be noted that local drivers often do not follow the abovementioned speed limit rules. Almost none of local residents will drive on a highway at a speed less than 150 km/h.

Enjoying sights of Athens in cabriolet
The first cemetery of Athens – for those who like to visit such places, will be a real find. Heinrich Schliemann as well as Orthodox metropolitans are buried here. In addition, the place itself is very impressive, even though such places are known to create mixed feelings. The bridge Katehaki, one of the most beautiful pedestrian bridges around the world, built in 2004 especially for the Olympic Games in the Greek capital by Santiago Calatrava, is an interesting attraction worthy of visiting.

The capital of Greece and its numerous Orthodox churches are famous for real works of architectural art. First of all, it is worth noting the Church of Panagia Kapnikarea. For residents of Athens, it is a fairly ordinary church, but not for tourists. Even the most seasoned will be amazed by it from the first minutes. The Church was built in the 11th century on the site of a pagan temple. Besides this, this is a great place to bring your thoughts in order. The Church Agios Nikolaos (St. Nicholas) is another remarkable religious building, famous for its beautiful frescoes.
