FAQ on the rental process

Drive to large neighbour of Emsdetten - Apeldoorn
One of the main landmarks of Apeldoorn is located on the outskirts of the city. This is the internationally famous Het Loo Palace. The magnificent palace was built in 1685 on the site of the Royal Estate Het Loo by the order of William III. For many years, the gorgeous palace was the favorite place of the royal family and served them as a summer residence. In 1962, the palace became the property of the government, and in 1984 a museum was open there. This picturesque place is worth visiting not only for connoisseurs of architectural landmarks but also for tourists who like exploring natural landmarks as the gardens near the palace are nothing but stunning.
While building the palace, William III wanted to express how rich and powerful he was, so he ordered to build a palace of exceptional beauty that would impress its visitors. Both William and the English princess Mary Stuart, who was his wife, were keen on landscape design. That was the main reason for the appearance of the splendid gardens and pavilions that attract many visitors from all over the world.

Nowadays, the palace has become home to the old library and the National Museum. A few years ago, one more museum, Museum van de Kanselarij der Nederlandse Orden, appeared there. Needless to say, these are exceptionally interesting places for tourists. The large adjacent park area has magnificent statues and lanterns. Before making a visit to the palace, check its work hours as Het Loo is usually closed on Mondays.
