Car Rental in Helsinki

Family car rental in Helsinki

The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Finland traditionally include the following vehicles: VW Passat, Renault Scenic, Peugeot 508, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Sonata, Mercedes A Class and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Helsinki borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Helsinki might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Helsinki!

Driving Advices for Finland – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
There is nothing difficult in navigating in the maze of Finnish roads. Simply remember following the simple rules of road numbering. All the international routes have a numerical designation and the alphabetic index “E”. Highways always start from numbers from 1 to 39, and speed roads have the number starting from 40 to 99. Finally, bypass roads and local roads have the number starting from 100 to 999, and all other roads have numbers from 1000 to 9999.
In addition to fuel, in petrol stations drivers can buy high quality maps of local roads. There are even special maps for tourists that indicate the most interesting tourist places of interest.
As local residents are very concerned about their environment. For example, cars are prohibited to stand with the engine running. When you stop your car, you can only leave the engine working for no more than a minute (this time limit must be taken seriously and should not be exceeded). The penalty for the violation of this rule is from 10 to 50 euro.
