Car Rental in Cairo

Convertible rental in Cairo

The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Egypt are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet and Ford Mustang Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Cairo require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Egypt is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Cairo and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Cairo, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Egypt!

Driving Advices for Egypt – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
It is extremely difficult to drive on local roads even in the daytime. Foreigners are also recommended to refrain from night trips. In Egypt, drivers rarely use beam lights, so at night it is possible to recognize a car on the road, perhaps, only by its marker lights. On country roads, livestock is also a source of serious danger for cars – it often goes to the road.
Cars are considered “privileged” users of Egyptian roads, so drivers never give way to pedestrians. Sometimes drivers stop at traffic lights. Even zebra crossings are not an obstacle for those who like driving fast.
It should be noted that traffic lights are a true rarity in Egyptian cities. In larger towns, the installation of traffic lights has been started just recently. For example, in Hurghada the first traffic light appeared in 2009. Not surprisingly, people living in remote regions of the country often do not even know the meaning of this strange device.

Cairo Maṭār al-Qāhirah al-Duwaliyy International Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and the second in the passenger traffic on the continent. The airport is located 15 km from Cairo, in Heliopolis. In the early 70s of the last century, Cairo International Airport became the major one and replaced the old airport of Heliopolis. At the airport, there are three air-strips, each of which can accommodate any modern and heavy airplanes. Passengers are services in three terminals divided into several concourses. Besides international and domestic flights, T1 serves private and representative flights in Concourse 4 (that serves as a separate unit). Terminals 2 and 3 are a union complex and linked with the air crossing. There is another seasonal terminal (ST) for pilgrims.

Terminals, parking lots and AirMoll are linked by the transit system “people mover”. From the airport, you can reach the city by limo. Such services are provided by several companies. Stops of public buses, shuttle transfers and the international bus station are located near T1. The airport and the center of Cairo are linked by three metro lines. On the territory of the city are located over a hundred of pyramids, and each one of them is full of its own legends and secrets. The Pyramid of Cheops remains an unforgettable manmade masterpiece and an internationally famous tourist spot. The height of the pyramid estimates 147 meters. Many fascinating hypotheses and theories are connected with this unique architectural facility. However, the main mystery, the purpose of the pyramids, still remains unknown. Even these days archeologists keep working on the territory of Giza, revealing more precious information about the history of ancient Egypt. You can get acquainted with discovered artifacts and enjoy the achievements of modern scientists during the excursion to the Museum of Archeology.

Huge Sphinxes remains the main guardian of the pyramids. Its strict and grandiose look makes travellers stop breathing from admiration. Among religious buildings we should underline Mohammad Ali Mosque that was built in the middle of the previous century. This is one of the largest temples of the country. The mosque is decorated with a huge cupola and inner halls are tiled with rare marble. Because of this even during hot days the air in the mosque remains cool.
