Rental, parking and other info on Shanghai - Hongqiao Intl Airport
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is a civilian state-run airport of China. It is one of the five busiest airports of the country in terms of passenger and cargo traffic. The airfield was put into operation at the beginning of the previous century, but the first civil flights took place only in 1921. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport remained the main international airport of Shanghai for a long time (until the completion of Shanghai Pudong International Airport). After Shanghai Pudong International Airport started functioning, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport stopped handling international flights. However, it has been offering several international routes to Asia since 2007. The airport operates two passenger terminals and two runways.

Passengers of the airport can use public buses which will transport them to various districts of Shanghai. Buses number 1, 2, 941, 925, 938, 806, 807, and 176 depart from Terminal 1. Buses number 1, 941, HUB 4, and HUB 9 depart from Terminal 2. Besides, they may take intercity buses. Taxi services are also available. At the airport, there are taxi waiting areas near each terminal, on the arrival level. The airport is served by night buses number 316 and 320. The airport is connected to Shanghai Metro by the Green Metro Line (Line 2) as well as the Purple Metro Line (Line 10). Free shuttle buses run throughout the territory of the airport. They depart from Terminal 2 (parking lot P2) and Terminal 1, from the arrival level, from Gate 2.

Car rental services are provided on the first floor of Terminal 2, in the central area of the arrival hall. The international company Avis cooperates with Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The employees of the company meet customers near the terminal and take them to the rental car pick-up location free of charge. The working hours of the car rental office depend on the flight schedule. Car rental services are not available in Terminal 1. In order to hire a suitable vehicle, it is preferable to reserve it in advance.

So as to conclude a rental agreement, a driver's license with a photo, a credit card and an identity card will be required. The company sets a certain daily mileage limit for its cars, and exceeding that limit will result in additional costs for a customer. When registering a rental agreement, the insurance in case of theft and possible car accident will be included in the rental cost. Read all...
