Car Rental in Salvador

Family car rental in Salvador

The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Brazil traditionally include the following vehicles: Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Dodge Stratos, Toyota Avensis, Nissan Primera, Pontiac G3 and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Salvador borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Salvador might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Salvador!

There are special parking places for the disabled close to supermarkets, banks and other institutions. Drivers, who are not disabled, cannot occupy these places, even if all the other places in the parking lot are occupied.
While driving, do not forget to pay attention to road signs that indicate the speed limit. They can be located in most unexpected places. Experienced motorists usually recommend paying attention to local drivers as they never slow down without a serious reason.
If main highways in the country are distinguished by good quality of road surface, secondary roads are not so good. There often many dents and holes on them. Some holes are really big, so it is not recommended to drive fast on them or travel on such roads at night.

Traveling in Salvador with family car
If you are going to go to local stores, remember that the best type of payment is cashless here. You will find terminals even in small shops. Of course, you can pay for the purchase in cash. However, be ready for the fact that you will definitely lose one or two coins from the change. Salvador is not the best place to find branded items. There aren't too many of them here. Their prices are not much different from the European ones. There are no outlets at all here. This is due to the fact that local merchants specialize in selling their own products, handicrafts, clothing, and shoes of Brazilian designers.

If you want to spend the whole day shopping, you should not go shopping on Sunday. All major stores and shopping centers in the city are closed after one o'clock on this day. In any case, you will definitely not leave Salvador without shopping. It is worth considering the customs rules for the export of products and goods. Alcohol restrictions are quite strict, for example. Therefore, even if you really like cachaça, you should not buy it in dozens of liters. You will not be able to take more than one liter of this drink out of the country.
