Car Rental in Brussels

Convertible rental in Brussels

The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Belgium are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet, Audi A3 Convertible, Audi A4 Convertible and BMW Z4 Roadster.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Brussels require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Belgium is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Brussels and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Brussels, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Belgium!

Driving Advices for Belgium – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
All roads in the country are free to use. Payment can be charged only for using some tunnels. The cost of using toll road sections depends on the size of the vehicle, or rather, on its height.
Liefkenshoek tunnel is a paid one. Its length estimates 1.37 km. The tunnel runs under the River Scheldt, and it is a part of the R2 road that is laid near Antwerp. The toll for vehicles, the height of which is less than 2.75m, is approximately 4.7 euro. The toll for higher vehicles is approximately 16.9 euro.
Drivers are allowed to pay in cash to use the tunnel. In this case it is necessary to choose the lane with green markings. The payment can be done not only in euro, but also in U.S. dollars, Swedish and Danish kronor, British pounds and Swiss francs. Drivers should not forget that all currencies are converted to the euro, and so the change is given in euro only.

Enjoying sights of Brussels in cabriolet
Travelers wishing to try something truly exotic and unavailable outside Brussels can always head to one of local restaurants and order paling in’t groen. This is the local name of eel stew that is served together with a peculiar green sauce. The history of this dish is very interesting. Several hundred years ago, local people were catching eels in the Scheldt River. After that, they collected various herbs that grew near the river’s bank, such as mint, spinach, parsley, sorrel, and lettuce. They used all these greens to make a special sauce that remains the main secret of the ever popular dish.

Gourmets in love with meat dishes will genuinely enjoy the signature Flemish carbonade, stoverij. It is cooked in dark beer and served with a no less amazing garnish, stoemp. The latter contains mashed potatoes together with various vegetables and herbs. Tourists in Brussels also like small crunchy buns that local call “pistols”. These buns can come with a variety of fillings including cheese, sausages, and ham. Small sea snails are one more popular street food that is loved by both locals and tourists.
