Car Rental in Buenos Aires

Family car rental in Buenos Aires

The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Argentina traditionally include the following vehicles: Ford Taurus, Pontiac Grand Prix, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Elantra, Oldsmobile Alero and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Buenos Aires borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Buenos Aires might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Buenos Aires!

On such roads there are many «controles policiales» checkpoints. When approaching them, all drivers are required to slow down. The police have the right to stop any vehicle to check documents, and drivers must follow all orders of the police with understanding.
The police also have the right to check any car for contraband, so the requirement to open the boot should be treated with understanding. Local police can also offer to “disinfect” the car. Such a service usually costs about 2 pesos. During this procedure police officers spray a liquid inside the car. However, in most cases this “disinfecting liquid” is nothing but water.
There are many special police checkpoints in the vicinity of Buenos Aires that offer “paid car check”. Experienced travellers usually advise not to argue with the police and pay the required amount for the car inspection. The amount is usually small.

Rental, parking and other info on Buenos Aires Newberry - Airport
Jorge Newbery Airfield or Aeroparque Jorge Newbery is an international civilian airport of Buenos Aires. It is shared with the Argentine Air Force. The airfield was built in the territory of the former swamp and was opened in 1947. Its original name 17 October Airfield (Aeroparque 17 de Octubre) was changed to modern one in 1955, in honour of the pioneer of Argentine aviation. The airport is located in the neighbourhood of Palermo, along the RĂo de la Plata. It is the second major air terminal of the capital, which handles regular domestic and international flights. The airport is served by one runway. The passenger terminal is divided into 3 sectors, which are A, B and C. Sector A serves international flights.

Jorge Newbery Airfield is linked to the city by several modes of transport, which are public buses, shuttles, taxis, and transfers. Public buses number 160, 33, 37, and 45 depart from the parking areas placed opposite Sectors A and B of the passenger terminal to various city districts. Taxi ranks are positioned near the exits from Sector A of the terminal. Car rental services are available in the territory of the airport.

A few major international companies provide their vehicle rental services at Jorge Newbery Airfield. These are Alamo, Hertz, Budget, and Avis. Besides the above-mentioned companies, the regional company Localiza operates at the airport. The representative offices of the companies are found in Sector A2, in the public area of the Terminal. You can contact the representatives of the companies beforehand by phone numbers indicated on the website of the airport or by using the proposed advance booking services. In order to get to the car rental offices in Sector A, you should go down to the lower floor in the domestic arrival area. The car rental offices and taxi services are located on the lower level. Rental vehicles are collected from and returned to the South parking garage of the airport.

In addition to the companies placed in the terminal, several international agencies, the employees of which meet their customers beside the passenger terminal and take them to the rental car pick-up location, cooperate with the airport. They are Sixt, Europcar and Enterprise. The given companies offer advance booking of necessary vehicles through online services.

All the companies offer unlimited daily mileage to their clients. Fuel policy depends on a certain car rental company. The driver must be aged 21 or over (if the driver is younger, the rental rate may be higher). Read all...
Traveling in Buenos Aires with family car
A building considered completely unusual for the Latin American capital can be found on Avenue Brasil. We are referring to Iglesia Apostolica Ortodoxa Rusa, the stronghold of Orthodoxy in the Catholic city. The temple is very beautiful and majestic, matching the capital of Argentina. Among other cathedrals, it is worth noting the Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento, which is awarded various epithets, among which are “majestic” and “divine”. Basilica Nuestra Senora de la Merced also stands out against the background of the others. Inside are hidden beautiful works of art (altar, frescoes, and stained-glass windows). In addition, the church was at different times an important historical center.

One of the most colorful places in the capital of Argentina is the flamboyant Galeria Bond Street. This is one of the most fashionable places in the city. While passing here, you can stumble on rock shops, tattoo parlors, and be sure to make a selfie there. Another interesting place in the city is Avenida del Libertador. Rightfully considered the most beautiful avenue in the city, on the way here you can meet majestic trees, interesting sculptural structures, fashionable houses, and restaurants. The whole area is built in one style – art deco. Edificio Kavanagh, once the tallest building in the world (in 1934, at the time of its construction), today continues to please the eyes of all tourists and locals.
