Now, many historic buildings serve as themed museums that store over 350 000 exhibits. This natural park was founded in 1924 when several city museums were unified. In the center of the historical district of Yaroslavl, there is the Cathedral of Elijah the Prophet that is an important religious monument of the 17th century.
