Several decades after, it became one of the largest industrial centers of the region.
The city saw one of the roughest periods during the Great Patriotic War. It had been occupied for a year and a half. After the war, the municipal economy of the city recovered fast. In the 60s, Taganrog got back to its normal rhythm of life. Today, Taganrog is still one of the leading port cities of the Russian southern region. It is also a big scientific and cultural center. The tourism sector of Taganrog has recently started developing. Despite this, thousands of travelers vacation in the city every year. Copyright
