For example, the Gandhi Smriti Museum dedicated to the last days of Mahatma Gandhi - it was here that he spent his last five months before he was killed at the end of January 1948. One of the capital's most impressive buildings is Swaminarayan Akshardham, the most grandiose Hindu temple in the world listed on the Guinness Book of Records. Its opening took place in 2005, the construction lasted 7 years. In the end, it measured 42 high, 94 meters wide, and 106 meters long. A fine addition to the magnificent architecture is the figures of 148 elephants. Keep in mind that taking pictures or filming the interior of the temple with any devices is prohibited. The list of must-visit attractions wouldn't be complete without the Chhatarpur Temple, (also called Shri Aadya Katyayani Shakti Peetham), the construction of which was completed in 1974. It was considered the largest temple in India before Swaminarayan Akshardham took over its title.
Humayuns Tomb In 1986, Fariborz Sahba completed the construction of another temple, which is now one of the symbols of India - the Lotus Temple. Its blooming lotus shape became recognizable immediately. The building is a vivid example of the expressionist style mixed with biotech, as evidenced by numerous architectural awards. The temple is open to representatives of all faiths. Its structure includes 27 "petals" grouped in clusters of three on each side. In 2001, the Lotus Temple became the world's most visited building, according to CNN. However, the city has not only Hindu, Jain, and Baháʼí temples - you can also find mosques (Friday Mosque, or Jama Masjid), as well as Christian churches (Sacred Heart Cathedral). The living legacy of the Delhi Sultanate is the Qutb Minar minaret, which was built along with the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque approximately in 1192 by decree of Qutb al-Din Aibak, the country's first ruler. This is one of the best-preserved complexes in India that was damaged several times throughout the country's history: by a lightning strike in 1369 and by an earthquake in 1505 and 1803. The complex was restored in 1828, but twenty years later, the dome was removed from the mosque. Today, however, you can only admire the tower from the outside - all because of safety reasons due to an accident that happened here in 1981.
Humayuns Tomb, Delhi Nearby is the Mehrauli Archaeological Park - the famous archaeological site, which keeps more than a hundred historical monuments. For example, here you can explore New Delhi's oldest fort - Lal Kot dating back to 1060. Among other monuments are the ancient Tomb of Balban (1287), the Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb (1526), and graves of other sultans of various dynasties who ruled during later centuries. The famous stepwell Rajon Ki Baoli deserves a separate visit. The complex became an archaeological park in 1997 and opened to the public in 2000. About forty monuments have been restored since then.

Completed in 1930, the building remains the largest presidential palace in the world. » The Lotus Temple, or the Bahá'í House, is one of the nine temples built all over the world. It belongs to Bahái followers. It is modern religion that lacks confessional restrictions, sermons, priests, and altars. Adherents to this religion don’t worship icons and sculptures.
»  The huge white building that resembles a lotus flower was built in 1986 on the donations collected all over the world. The project architect was Fariborz Sahba, an Iranian who lived in Canada.
»  Before the construction, the building project had been modeled on the computer for two years. The main hall that has a diameter of 75 m and is 31 m high can accommodate from 1 300 to 2 500 visitors. The Bahá'í House was awarded several architectural prizes.
